Minimum Income Guarantee report: SG response
Scottish Government response to the independent Minimum Income Guarantee Expert Group's final report 'A Minimum Income Guarantee: a Roadmap to dignity for all'.
Next steps
As this response highlights, we have made good progress in Scotland, but we also acknowledge that there is more work to be done. We are working towards a stronger, joined up approach across our public services that will increase the support provided to the people of Scotland. We will continue to look for ways to automate and ensure that everyone is accessing the support they are entitled to. We will encourage the next government to build on the foundations we have established.
We will outline some of the future actions we will take as a government, in upcoming publications. This includes a new National Islands Plan, our response to the independent review of Adult Disability Payment and consideration of the Audit Scotland report on Adult Disability Payment and the next Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan.
Our response to the Minimum Income Guarantee Expert Group’s roadmap has also outlined where we continue to push for change to be made at source by the UK Government through key pieces of work such as the review of Universal Credit and the UK Government Child Poverty Taskforce. We will of course impact any changes announced by the UK Government in these publications and assess what they mean for the people of Scotland.
