This draft document is an assessment of the likely effects of increasing the minimum age of marriage and civil partnership on the rights and wellbeing of children. It is intended to support engagement with the Scottish Government’s public consultation on whether it should legislate in this area. The Scottish Government will continue to review and update this document where required during the decision-making and any Parliamentary process. Any future iterations will reflect an increased understanding of these impacts as the amount of evidence available continues to grow.
