Results from the Scottish Agricultural Census: June 2025

Total poultry numbers increase to 12.42 million in 2025
In 2025, there were 12.42 million poultry, a 3.5% increase when compared with 2024. Of these, 5.94 million were for egg production (a 0.7% decrease when compared with 2024), 5.33 million were for meat production (11% increase), and 1.05 million were for breeding (6.7% decrease).
Due to methodological improvements, estimates from 2023 onwards are not directly comparable with data from earlier years.
