Results from the Scottish Agricultural Census: June 2025

Final results from the 2025 June Agricultural Census on land use, crop areas, livestock and the number of people working on agricultural holdings.

Module results on irrigation methods are also included within this publication.

Data sources and methodology

This data is collected via the annual June Agricultural Census of Scottish agricultural holdings and is run by the Rural and Environmental Science & Analytical Services Division of the Scottish Government. The overall response rate to the June Agricultural Census 2025 based on number of returns as a percentage of holdings surveyed was 55% compared with 53% in 2024. Data is also included from the Single Application Form (SAF) database and the Cattle Tracing System (CTS). Full details of the census methodology are available from the census methodology report

The figures presented within the text and charts of this publication are rounded. For exact values, please refer to the accompanying data tables available in the supporting documents. 

Percentage changes are rounded to one decimal place if less than 10%, and to zero decimal places if 10% or greater.
