What is in scope

This contract provides a solution for the treatment of residual waste up to, and beyond, the ban on biodegradable waste being sent to landfill which comes in force on 1 January 2021.

The contract provides for transfer, transport, treatment and disposal for residual municipal solid waste (excluding separately collected asbestos and hazardous waste) with transfer station and haulage options.

Residual waste, commonly known as 'black bin waste', is the material which remains once all reasonably practicable efforts to extract and recover re-usable and recyclable materials have taken place.
