Human Rights Bill for Scotland: discussion paper - easy read
An easy read version of the discussion paper that outlines the Scottish Government’s current thinking on a potential new Human Rights Bill for Scotland.
What happens next?
The Scottish Government has a plan on what they want to do next with human rights including:
- telling more people about the proposals for a Human Rights Bill
- doing more work on the proposals to make them the best they can be
- work to help organisations think about human rights now so they are ready for the Bill in the future
The Scottish Government plans to introduce the Bill in the 2026 to 2031 Parliament.
This depends on who is in power after the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.
