Public appointment: Chair appointment extended on the NHS Golden Jubilee Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Care Angela Constance MSP, today announced the extension to the appointment of Susan Douglas-Scott CBE as Chair of the NHS Golden Jubilee Board.

 

Chair

Susan Douglas-Scott CBE is an experienced strategic leader whose career spans the disability, health, public and third sectors. She brings deep expertise in governance, human‑rights‑based practice and values‑led leadership, shaped by senior roles as a CEO, Chair and trustee across Scotland and the UK. As Chair of NHS Golden Jubilee and the National Care Service Advisory Board, she helps organisations navigate reform with clarity, courage and humanity. Her leadership is grounded in empathy, collaboration and a deep belief in people, informed by her lived experience as a disabled lesbian woman with deep connections to other disabled people, women’s rights and LGBTQI+ communities. Susan is committed to protecting and advancing human rights at a time when public debate is becoming more polarised, ensuring dignity and equity remain at the centre of decision‑making. She challenges with kindness, firmness and empathy, creating conditions where people feel respected, heard and able to contribute with confidence.

 

Extension

This extension will run from 1 January 2027 to 3 April 2027.

This extension is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

 

Remuneration

This extension is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £56,472 per annum for a time commitment of 3 days per week.

 

Other ministerial appointments

Susan Douglas-Scott is a Chair of the NCS Advisory Board, for which she receives remuneration of £260 per day, for a time commitment of 5 days per month.

 

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. 

Susan Douglas-Scott has had no political activity within the last five years.
