This privacy notice explains how the team delivering the Proof of Concept Fund will collect, use, store and protect your personal data in accordance with data protection laws.


Proof of Concept Fund (PoC) privacy notice

This document provides information about how we use your personal data, and the rights you have under UK data protection legislation.

Who we are

The Scottish Government, processing data associated with the PoC Fund. 

What personal data will be collected and processed

We keep your above information for no longer than is necessary. We will retain this data until all grant payments and monitoring and evaluation associated with the fund has been completed. Data will then be destroyed in line with data protection laws.

We keep your above information for no longer than is necessary. We will destroy raw data once the fund is closed, and a summary paper has been written. Data will then be destroyed in line with data protection laws.

What we do with your data

When applicants apply to the PoC Fund, the application form will provide options on what data the lead applicant wants to give. We require your name and email address so we can contact you regarding the fund. We are collecting additional personal data as this will be used so we can understand who is applying to and receiving funding from the PoC fund. We will collect data only from the lead applicant. The additional data we collect will be anonymised and processed into a summary report. However, no raw data will be reported. 

Scottish Government is committed to having a fair economy that provides opportunities for all, collecting this data will allow us to understand which groups are not accessing PoC funding so we can develop policy interventions to overcome any barriers which exist.

Lawful basis

Processing the data is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

Where we process special category data the lawful basis is the data subject has given explicit consent to the processing of personal data for one or more specified purposes. Individuals applying will not be required to share special category data such as ethnicity and can opt out during the application process.

Who we share data with

We share data with the following organisations:

  • data will only be shared with Future economy team in Scottish Government, they will have sight of the data provided on application forms.

What my rights are 

  • the right to be informed – about how we are using your personal data, which is done through this privacy notice
  • the right of access – you can request a copy of personal data we hold about you. You can also request data on behalf of someone else if they want you to do this
  • the right of rectification – you have the right to have us rectify our records if we hold inaccurate or incomplete information about you
  • the rights of erasure, objection, and restriction – to have your request your details are removed from our system, or limit how we use them
  • you have the right to access a portable copy of your data
