Processing time for new claims for Adult Disability Payment: FOI release

Information requested

In relation to the time taken in processing new claims for Adult Disability Payment:

• The percentage of new claims waiting for longer than 10 weeks.
• The percentage of new claims waiting for longer than 20 weeks.

Information on processing times is contained within Table 9 of the Excel document.

Processing time is calculated in working days, and public holidays are excluded, even if applications were processed by staff working overtime on these days. This number can be divided by five to reach a figure for “working weeks”.

The column for “Applications processed in 101+ days” indicates the number of claims for which processing time was greater than 20 “working weeks”, which in this case is 4%.

The figure for the number of claims for which processing time was greater than 10 weeks can be reached by adding the columns from “Applications processed in 51-60 days” through to “Applications processed in 101+ days”, the total of which in this case is 47%.

The next Adult Disability Payment publication, covering up to 31 January 2023, will be published on 14 March 2023.
