Polypharmacy prescribing guidance - draft: consultation

We are consulting on this draft updated polypharmacy prescribing guidance. 'Appropriate Prescribing - Making medicines safe, effective and sustainable 2025-2028' aims to further improve the care of individuals taking multiple medicines through the use of 7-Steps medicine reviews and promotes a holistic approach to person-centred care.

20. Appendix H: Additional scoping searches

We ran an additional scoping search in October 2023 to identify eligible articles published since our last search, i.e., from Nov 2022 to Oct 2023 and to consider how they might impact on the conclusions and recommendations from the Hot Topics. We retrieved 209 full texts and excluded 142. We considered the majority of the 67 articles provisionally meeting our eligibility criteria (see below) did not significantly change our conclusions or recommendations. Table 42 below captures the reasons for exclusion, and below that is the list of excluded articles.
