Planning Application Statistics 2024/25 (April 2024 to September 2024)
These statistics set out an analysis of planning applications processed by Planning Authorities including the number, and type of applications and the decision times for applications.

All Local Developments
There were 9,247 decisions on local developments in the first two quarters of 2024/25. This was 10.5 per cent lower than the same period in the previous year. The long-term trend is downward. The average decision time was 11.1 weeks in Q1 and 11.9 weeks in Q2.
In Q1 there were 884 local development applications with processing agreements and 66.7% met agreed timescales that had been set between developers and local authorities. In Q2 there were 829 with 68.2% meeting the agreed timescales.
Local Housing Developments
There were 1,246 local housing developments not subject to processing agreements decided during the first two quarters of 2024/25. This was 16.9 per cent lower than the same period in the previous year. Average decision times were 17.5 weeks in Q1 and 19.6 weeks in Q2. In Quarter 1, 45.5 per cent of decisions were made in less than two months and 37.2 in Quarter 2. Where processing agreements were in place around 70 per cent met agreed timescales.
