Parity agreement with UK Government to fund Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

Copy of the parity agreement reached between the UK Government and the Scottish Government in respect of payments made to the Scottish Government to fund the Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme.

Response

There was no written parity agreement between the four nations' governments at the point the parity agreement was reached in March 2021, although the terms of the agreement were set out in a written Ministerial statement by the UK Government - a link to the statement is included in the attached letter from the UK Government. However, I enclose a copy of the information you requested in the form of a letter dated 18 June 2021 to the then Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport, Maree Todd MSP, from the then Minister of State for Patient Safety, Suicide Prevention and Mental Health, Nadine Dorries MP, which sets out the terms of the parity agreement and funding arrangements. The Minister's response to this letter is also enclosed. While the letters make reference to the UK Government only providing funding during 2021-22, the UK Government has continued to fund these costs for the devolved administrations.
