Organ transplant aftercare and support in Scotland Transplant patient survey report
The publication sets out the findings and recommendations of the organ transplant aftercare and support in Scotland patient survey.
6. Travel
This section explored patients’ experiences of travelling to their transplant centre.
6.1 Do you have any difficulties travelling to your transplant centre?
Yes 19%
No 81%
It is worth noting that 81% respondents reported that they did not have difficulties travelling to their transplant centre.
Of the one hundred and twenty two respondents who commented that they did have difficulties travelling to their transplant centre, the majority found the distance they had to travel a problem, citing lengthy journeys and multiple modes of transport, especially if travelling from rural and island locations.
Others talked about the need to use patient transport or rely on family and friends, and some commented on the cost of travel and parking.
