Introduction

The chair welcomed members to the group. 

Minutes

Members approved the minutes from the last meeting. 

Older People’s Strategic Action Forum (OPSAF) work plan and priorities 

Members agreed on a set of strategic priorities, with a focus on:

  • health and social care
  • pensioner poverty
  • social isolation and loneliness

The group endorsed strengthening OPSAF’s structure, including steps to enhance governance and representation. 

Ageism was identified as a priority area, with recognition of the need to address negative perceptions of ageing. 

Members supported measures to build capacity and increase visibility, including actions to strengthen member capability and raise awareness of OPSAF’s role. 

Any other business and closing    

The Forum received an update on Generations Working Together membership. 

A request was made for the Scottish Women’s Convention to be added to the OPSAF membership.  

Action points 

  • Scottish Government to finalise and circulate a document summarising the discussion
  • Scottish Government to issue ministerial correspondence highlighting OPSAF’s role and membership
  • Scottish Government to initiate the planned workshops
  • Members to continue organising workshops and provide updates at meetings
