National Transitions to Adulthood Strategy for young disabled people: equality impact assessment

Key Findings

The EQIA identified persistent and systemic challenges faced by young disabled people during their transition to adulthood, including stress and uncertainty, disrupted service continuity, changing eligibility criteria, and a lack of person-centred planning. Poor coordination between services, limited recognition of individual aspirations, and family stress were also recurring themes, particularly for those with complex needs requiring multi-sector support.
