National Care Service: Independent advocacy co-design report - easy read
This easy read report sets out findings we have gathered through research and co-design that relate to independent advocacy.
About Independent Advocacy
We want to improve people’s access to independent advocacy.
We want to help people to make important decisions about their social care support.
People who deliver these services are called independent advocates.
Independent advocates are not part of the organisations that provide your social care or community health services.
Independent advocacy services help people to:
- understand their rights
- find and understand information about available support
- share their views on agreeing what support is right for them
- raise concerns about their support
- be more involved in decisions if their support is changed
Independent advocates do not give advice or make decisions for the person they support.
