Mental Health and Wellbeing Delivery Plan

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Delivery Plan sets out our priorities and actions to help us achieve our vision of a Scotland, free from stigma and inequality, where everyone fulfils their right to achieve the best mental health and wellbeing possible.

Statement from Diverse Experiences Advisory Panel (DEAP)

The Diverse Experiences Advisory Panel's (DEAP) role within the governance structure of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy Delivery Plan is essential for ensuring lived and living experience input into the plan's development and delivery. Meaningful involvement must be continuous, embedded, and influential, rather than treated as a one-off exercise. Drawing on their diverse experiences of inequality and disadvantage, DEAP continues to inform decision-making, shape delivery, advocate for better mental health outcomes for all and ensure that tackling inequality and disadvantage is central to the Strategy's delivery.

DEAP welcomes the opportunity to remain a partner in the delivery of this plan over the coming years to ensure that mental health policy is shaped by the diverse experiences of people and communities from across Scotland.

"Mental health and its challenges are everyone’s business, and can affect anyone and everyone at any time, without notice or intention. It is essential that we create a society where those that need help, get that help, and more so when they already face additional barriers or the rigours of life. The revised delivery plan is a source of hope and encouragement that planning and implementing tangible change, that people can see, touch and experience in a way that works for them, is indeed possible. Living with a chronic pain condition that naturally affects my own mental health, seeing an inclusive, holistic approach taken to my care and support has been a dream from years. I look forward to the day where that is part and parcel of normal, everyday life." - Hussein, DEAP Panel Member
