Details of specialism

My research is concerned with all aspects of the fish capture process including; fishing gear design/construction; fleet effort and composition; selectivity of commercial fishing gears and discard reduction measures (Technical Conservation Measures).

I have been involved with fishing gear technology since starting at the Marine Laboratory Aberdeen in 1986. I publish my experimental work through International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) expert group reports as well as via peer reviewed publications and Scottish Government commissioned reports.

Collaborations

I have active and ongoing collaborations with the Scottish commercial fishing industry, netmakers, international research institutes and ICES working groups such as WGFTFB and the Working Group on International Bottom Trawl Surveys.
