Marine and coastal restoration plan: business and regulatory impact assessment

Business and regulatory impact assessment (BRIA) for the Marine and Coastal Restoration Plan.

Section 5: Next steps and implementation

Recommendations/preferred options

Based on feedback from the public consultation, final package of objectives and actions for inclusion in the plan has remained unchanged. Evidence for Option 2 (the Marine and Coastal Restoration Plan) has been refined to include points raised by respondents to the consultation.

Implementation considerations/plan

The final package of objectives and actions, as approved by Scottish Ministers, will be implemented by Scottish Government officials, key delivery partners such as NatureScot and Crown Estate Scotland, public bodies, as well as the restoration sector. The objectives and actions in the plan will not all be owned by the Scottish Government, and it is expected that there will be further engagement with members of the stakeholder advisory group to discuss implementation.

The objectives and actions within the plan will be achieved over differing timescales. Some actions have a relatively shorter implementation timescales, while others will be implemented over several years.

Post implementation review

It is intended that the plan will be reviewed on a five-year cycle to assess progress against the objectives and actions. The review cycle will identify if objectives and actions have been achieved, if they remain appropriate and need to be in the next iteration of the plan, and if there are any additional objectives and actions that have been identified for inclusion in subsequent plans.
