How to apply

Application process

Applicants should complete and return an application form (attached to the bottom of this page) in support of their bid. The form should provide information on the following key areas:

• lead organisation
• project summary
• funding
• project delivery and monitoring and evaluation
• added value and project outcomes

Application timeline

• application window open: 6 May – 17 June 2025
• assessment of bids: 17 June – 11 July 2025
• notification of successful bids: 14 July 2025
• due diligence: 14 July – 4 August 2025
• post award governance arrangements: 5 August – 1 September 2025
• project delivery and ongoing monitoring: 1 September – 31 March 2026

Application steps

1. Complete the application form ensuring all necessary documentation as outlined within the checklist at Part 7 is included and submit to justtransitionfund@gov.scot by the deadline of 9:00 am Tuesday 17 June.
2. Bids will then be assessed against the criteria by Scottish Government, with advice from relevant experts within the organisation. 
3. Projects selected for award will be submitted to an external due diligence process as necessary.
4. All financial support provided under the Just Transition Fund will be considered for compliance with Subsidy Control regulations.
5. If required, further work will be undertaken with you to ensure that the appropriate application information can be met and additional documentation (including relevant commercial documentation) provided.  
6. Online information sessions will also be available for prospective applicants to attend on the following dates:

• Wednesday 21 May 2025 14:00-15:00
• Thursday 29 May 2025 11:00-12:00
• Monday 9 June 2025 14:00- 15:00
