Redress Scheme for survivors of past child abuse in care: information - easy read

This easy read document is about the financial redress scheme for survivors of historical child abuse in care in Scotland. The purpose of the redress scheme is to acknowledge and recognise the harm suffered as a result of that abuse. The redress scheme will offer payments to survivors.

Information about the Advance Payment Scheme

The Advance Payment Scheme is for survivors who are at least 68 years old or who are terminally ill.

This is like the Redress Scheme but people can apply to the Advance Payment Scheme now.

The Advance Payment Scheme is also for people who experienced abuse as children in some care settings before 1 December 2004.

The Advance Payment is £10,000.
