Inflation Adjusted HMRC Regional Trade Statistics for Scotland Q4 2025

Goods exports to the EU 

In 2025 Scotland’s goods exports to the EU decreased by 4% to £9.2 billion since the previous year. 

Over this period the greatest decreases were in Drink (down 8%), Chemical materials & products (down 24%) and Fish & shellfish (down 11%). Drink accounted for around a fifth of the total decline in EU exports and was the largest driver of the overall decrease. 

The largest positive changes for EU exports were seen in Power generating machinery (up 7%), Telecomms & sound recording (up 12%) and Metalliferous ores & metal scrap (up 32%).

Over the longer term Scotland’s goods exports to the EU have decreased by 22% since the pre-pandemic period (2018). 

The decline for Scotland over this period was driven by Apparel & clothing (down 84%), Chemical materials & products (down 60%) and Professional & scientific instruments (down 60%).
