Housing statistics quarterly update: June 2021

A summary of activity in new build housing and affordable housing in Scotland.

Footnotes

1 Housing supply: net additional dwellings for England

2 The most recent quarterly figures for Northern Ireland and England have been sourced from Land and Property Services (LPS) in Northern Ireland and the MHCLG Live tables on housing supply.

3 The most recent figures are accessed through the UK House Price Index: data downloads March 2021.

4 The Housing Statistics for Scotland Quarterly Update as at June would usually include an update on all-sector new house building starts and completions to end December in the preceding year, with more recent figures on social sector new builds to end March. However due to the impact of COVID-19 on the provision of new housebuilding data by some local authorities to the usual timescales, this has slowed the timing of the data collection process over this period.

7 Note that the way in which we calculate total affordable housing supply figures for Northern Ireland was revised in the Housing Statistics Quarterly Update for December 2020 compared to previous publications. This has increased the level of the Northern Ireland total affordable housing supply figures compared to the figures previously published by an average of 25% across the period 2010/11 to 2018/19.
