Information requested

How many retired NHS workers have received their remedial service statement in each of the last four years and how many are still waiting to receive their statement ?

Response

Remedial Service Statements (RSS) issued to retired members:

2023: 0 (no RSS were issued before 2025)
2024: 0 (no RSS were issued before 2025)
2025: 9,918 RSS issued
1 January to 18 June 2026: 1,321 RSS issued

RSS still to be issued

There are currently 23,208 RSS still to be issued to retired eligible NHS Scotland Superannuation scheme members.

Some members receive their Remedy choice at retirement (known as “Deferred Choice”) rather than via a separate RSS. The number of members provided with a Deferred Choice at retirement is:

2023: 0 (no Deferred Choice were issued before 2024.)
2024: 435
2025: 1,172
1 January to 18 June 2026: 1,082

In addition, there are 4,071 recently retired members who have not yet been provided with a remedy choice at retirement.
