Social Security Scotland - Adult Disability Payment (ADP) processing statistics: FOI release

Information requested

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 regarding the current processing queues for Adult Disability Payment (ADP) applications.

Please provide the following information based on the most recent management data available:

Request for information 1: Total Queue Volume: The total number of new ADP applications (specifically where Part 2 has been submitted) that are currently in the queue waiting to be allocated to a caseworker or decision-maker.

Request for information 2: Specific Waiting Times: Of the unallocated new applications identified in Question 1, how many have been waiting to be allocated since the end of February 2026 (or earlier)

Response

Request for information 1 and 2:

We have interpreted your request as relating to new Adult Disability Payment applications awaiting allocation for a first decision.

Social Security Scotland can provide a snapshot of this information as at 9 June 2026, when the data was obtained in response to your request. At that date, there were 21,326 applications awaiting
allocation.

Of these applications, none had been waiting to be allocated since the end of February 2026 or earlier.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Social Security Scotland does not have some of the information you have requested.

As Social Security Scotland does not hold any information on applications meeting the description in Request 2, this is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the information requested in relation to applications waiting since the end of February 2026 (or earlier) is not held.
