Ministerial private office staff pay information: FOI release
Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
The pay bill for each and all ministerial private offices for January, February and March 2026 as set out below:
Minister X: 2 staff : total base pay = X
Total overtime = Y
Total pay = Z
% of overtime to base pay = A
Allowances = B
Response
Within the answer the terms “pay bill”, “total base pay”, and ‘total pay’ have been defined to include, salary, overtime, allowances, and employer contributions in respect of National Insurance and Pension.
The overtime amount corresponds to the timing of payment, not the period in which the overtime work was performed.
The data provided includes staff on unpaid leave and those who joined or left a Ministerial Office partway through the month.
The requested information is detailed in the tables in Annex A. Where the overtime or allowance in any month for any specific Private Office has been paid to a single individual, that corresponding figure has been suppressed for confidentiality purposes, represented by [c] in that table.
