Palantir contract information: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

I would like to know how many departments of Scottish Government and associated government agencies (including police, financial services, Scotland's part of HMRC and the NHS) operate data infrastructure and surveillance Palantir contracts if yes, how long are these contracts planned to last and what is to stop Palantir from manipulating data once their contract ends?

Response

We have searched Public Contract Scotland (PCS) for any contracts that have been awarded to Palantir within the last 5 financial years. The results of which came back with a nil return, meaning no contracts have been awarded to Palantir. Whilst this covers most contracts, non-regulated procurements may have been completed locally within organisations, though this information is not held centrally by Scottish Government.

I would also like to draw your attention to our regular published spend for transactions over £500 for electronic Purchasing Cards (ePC): Government spend over £500: monthly reports - gov.scot and also our monthly and annual reports of Scottish Government spend over £25,000 Government spend over £25,000: monthly and annual reports - gov.scot.

You may find it helpful to look at the Scottish Information Commissioner’s ‘Tips for requesting information under FOI and the EIRs’ on his website at: http://www.itspublicknowledge.info/YourRights/Tipsforrequesters.aspx.
