Male offenders reconviction outcome statistics: FOI release

Information requested

Please provide statistical information for the the 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 offender cohort on one-year reconviction outcomes for male offenders aged 60 to 80 in Scotland.

I am requesting data broken down by:

• age at index conviction, preferably by single year of age from 60 to 80, or otherwise the narrowest age bands available;
• index offence group, restricted to sexual offences; and
• length of sentence imposed for the index conviction, using the sentence-length groupings held in your underlying data.

For each breakdown, please provide:

• the total number of offenders,
• the number reconvicted within one year

If disclosure control prevents release of the data at this level of detail, please provide the nearest available aggregated form, such as five-year age bands and grouped sentence-length bands.

An exemption under section 38.1(b) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested.

Where numbers of people are between 1 and 3 we have applied disclosure controls in order to prevent individuals being identifiable. In order to limit the amount of disclosure control, we have provided data in 10 and 11 year age bands and wider sentence length groupings.
