Information requested

1. The latest available data on the number of staff employed by the Scottish Government’s Justice Directorate (Ministerial Department*) .

2. A breakdown for (i) total headcount; (ii) total full-time equivalent.

*This is a request for information on the number of staff employed in the Ministerial Department, not the number of those employed by executive agencies that fall under the auspices of the Scottish Government’s Justice Directorate (e.g. Scottish Prison Service).

Response

As at the 30th September 2025, the date of the latest published official workforce statistics Scottish Government workforce information - gov.scot, the number of directly employed staff in the Directorate for Justice was;

i) total headcount - 168
ii) total full-time equivalent - 161.4
