Response

We have interpreted your request as relating to applications for a review of relevant police etc. information under sections 23 and 24 of the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, which came into force on 1 April 2025.

Reviews under section 23 are carried out by the police and reviews under section 24 by the Independent Reviewer.

I have provided statistical information for the period 1 April 2025 to 13 November 2025.

1. How many applications for review of relevant Scottish police information by the police have been submitted?

Disclosure Scotland has received a total of 27 applications for review of relevant police information.

2. How many applications for review of relevant Scottish police information by the police have been successful?

Reviews under section 23 of the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 are carried out by the police.

I have defined “successful” as resulting in a favourable outcome for the applicant.

Of the 22 reviews completed within the period referred to above, 17 reviews of relevant police information were successful.

3. How many applications for review of relevant Scottish police information by the independent reviewer have been submitted?

The Independent Reviewer has received 1 request for a review of relevant police information.

No independent reviews of relevant police information have been successful.
