Information requested

1. Across the last five years has any meat, imported from countries outside the UK, been used in meals served in Scottish Government buildings?

2. In terms of (1) could you outline the total amount spend on imported meat (and if possible, please break this down by year).

3. Is venison meat currently used or has it previously been used in meals served in Scottish Government buildings?

4. In terms of (3), please could you outline how often and in what quantities this is used?

Please find below information requested, please note the only information held and available is from the commencement if the current catering contract, w/c 29/08/2022.

1. Across the last five years has any meat, imported from countries outside the UK, been used in meals served in Scottish Government buildings?

Yes

2. In terms of (1) could you outline the total amount spend on imported meat (and if possible, please break this down by year).

See below table, since the commencement of the catering contract, the following imported products have been supplied into Scottish Government buildings - included total spend by year.

Two of the below products are listed as UK/EU or UK/NZ as in some cases these products could be sourced from either the UK or Imported, therefore the supplier cannot declare as just UK – our contractor, suppliers and we do not have a further detailed breakdown other than what is supplied below.

The below total is £589.67, however, the true total of the products that we can definitely identify as imported from outside of the UK, the total would be £26.20.

Every quarter since Q2 2023, other than Q1 2025 which was nil, quarterly quantities range from 2-5KG total.
