Scottish Public Pensions Agency Teachers pension information: FOI release

Information requested

a) How many teachers retired electing to receive a pension from the Scottish Public Pensions Agency between 15th August, 2020 and 31st March, 2022?

b) Of those teachers (in part a), how many have had their choice as to receive 'legacy benefits' or '2015 Scheme' for their pension accrued between 1st April, 2015 to 31st March, 2022 finalised and payments of pension and lump sum paid?

Response

a) 4,195 teachers retired electing to receive a pension from the Scottish Public Pensions Agency between 15th August 2020 and 31st March 2022.

b) As of 5th September 2025, 111 of those teachers (in part a) have been issued with a statement. Nil are in payment as choices are pending.
