Scottish Independence correspondence and spend: FOI release

Information requested

(1) Please can you share any correspondence sent to or from Scottish Government Ministers since January 2025 relating to Scottish Independence.

(2) Please can you share the total cost of any spending by the Scottish Government since January 2025 on any research, media or other activity relating to Scottish Independence.

Response

Question 1 –

I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested from the first part of your request.

Most of the information you have requested is available from Annex A, which is below within this letter.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption(s) under section(s) s.38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why that exemption(s) applies are explained in Annex B to this letter.

Question 2 -

In regards to the second part of your request, the Scottish Government have not spent any money in 2025 to date on any activity relating to Scottish Independence.

This is a formal notice under S.17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
