Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

Further information about the Job Families and Job Types associated with the 21 professions in the Scottish Government.

Response

1. Confirmation of whether job families or similar sub-groupings exist within each of the 21 professions recognized by the Scottish Government.

  • All 21 of our Scottish Government professions have a “job architecture” that includes Job Families and associated Job Types. These architectures are dynamic - work is ongoing to improve them and to ensure they reflect changing needs.

2. For those professions that do have job families, a comprehensive breakdown of the job families by profession.

  • The attached document contains each Profession’s Job Families including definitions, at the end of June 25 (latest version). See pages 2-28.

3. Any available details regarding the associated job roles within each job family.

  • The attached document contains a full list of Professions and the associated Job Families and Job Types (what the requester calls "job roles"), at the end of June. See pages 28-61.
