Scottish Government staff performance marking statistics: FOI release

Information requested

The number of each of the five performance markings given in the past three reporting years broken down by Directorate if possible and DG if note: and within each of these, broken down by grade if possible and band if not.

In your request you asked for information about performance markings. We have therefore interpreted your request to mean a breakdown of performance markings across the past three reporting years, grouped by DG and grade.

Points to consider when reviewing the figures:

• Performance markings are considered potentially sensitive personal data. To minimise the risk of identifying individuals, the data is presented by DG and grade only. We consider this to be within scope of your request.
• The information related to Core SG staff on the A-C grade scale. (Core staff comprised of: DG Communities, DG Corporate, DG Economy, DG Education & Justice, DG Healthcare, DG Net Zero, DG Scottish Exchequer, Dg Strategy & External Affairs)
• Data is considered to be complete on the system for reporting purposes in September of each year. Therefore, the figures provided are based on data extracted at that point.
• The 2024-2025 report year is not yet complete and therefore the previous 3 years have been provided.
• The figures will vary from the previous FOI releases due to the time when the information was extracted from our systems.

The breakdowns for each year are comprehensive therefore have been included as annexes as follows:

• Annex A – Appraisal Year 2021-2022
• Annex B – Appraisal Year 2022-2023
• Annex C – Appraisal Year 2023-2024
