Vessel Replacement and Deployment Programme enquiry: FOI release

Information requested

In the most recent version of the Vessel Replacement and Deployment Programme (here) , there is reference in paragraph 169 to a vessel options study undertaken by CFL. I have requested a copy of this report from CalMac, however I would also like to ask if TS undertook any other studies of a similar nature that contributed to the conclusion that a second vessel with the same vehicle deck capacity was the optimum vessel replacement solution for Islay. If so, please send me copies.

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested, specifically, other studies on the need for a second vessel. The decision to procure a second Islay class vessel was taken during the Final Business Case process and approved by Ministers.
