Transport Scotland recognition of chartered or incorporated engineer status: FOI release

Information requested

1. Does Transport Scotland offer any financial incentives (e.g. allowances, retention payments, or bonuses) to staff who hold Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status?

2. Are any roles within the organisation designated as requiring or preferring CEng/IEng status?

3. What structured support, if any, is in place to assist employees in achieving professional registration (e.g. accredited training schemes, funded professional membership, or mentoring)?

Response

1. Transport Scotland offer an Engineering Supplement for roles that require the post holder to be a chartered engineer.

2. Senior Civil Engineering roles are graded B3 to C3.

3. Transport Scotland has an accredited Graduate Training Scheme, designed to assist graduate engineers to become chartered professionals. Engineers in eligible engineering roles have their professional memberships funded by Transport Scotland.
