New ministerial offices within Scottish Government estate: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

Since 1 May 2021, the cost of creating new Ministerial offices within the Scottish Government. Note that I am referring to the physical space of an office that is used by a Minister. Costs could include but not be limited to purchasing new furniture, purchasing signage, taking out walls, relocating previous users of that office elsewhere etc. Please break this down per new Ministerial office created, with the date, total cost, the components of that cost, and the Minister the new office was intended for.

Response

Only one new ministerial office has been created within the Scottish Government estate during the period requested and all furniture provided for this office was repurposed from existing furniture stock.

The creation of this office was part of a larger scope of building works during financial year 22/23 and as the project was costed as a whole package we are unable to quantify the costs directly associated to this room. On completion the room was allocated to the Deputy First Minister.

As such, this is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have all of the information you have requested.
