Remediable Service Statement (RSS) police officer statistics: FOI release

Information requested

Can you please provide information in respect of police officers who are in immediate detriment due to pension changes and waiting on production of their Remediable Service Statements:

1) Number of retired officers making scheme pays who retired prior to October 2023 and eligible for pension remedy due to being moved into CARE Pension before end March 2022.

2) How many of the eligible officers making scheme pays have been issued their RSS by 31st May 2025?

3) How many of the eligible officers making scheme pays have been issued their RSS between 1st June 2025 and 26th June 2025?

4) How many staff are employed in a role to administer scheme pays by SPPA?

Response

1) 72 Remedy eligible retired members with a status of Tapered and Unprotected making scheme pays who retired prior to October 2023, are waiting on production of their RSS.

2) Nil eligible members making scheme pays have been issued their RSS prior to 31st May 2025.

3) 12 Remedy eligible members making scheme pays have been issued their RSS between 1st June 2025 and 26th June 2025.

4) There are two SPPA staff employed in a role to administer scheme pays.
