Information requested

1. All correspondence between the Scottish Government and the Isle of Rum Community Trust since 1 January 2025.

2. An expected or stated date for when the Castle is put on the market.

3. The expected or stated duration of the Castle being on the market.

4. The Conditions of Sale of the Castle (which it is understood may be subject to change)

5. The Castle sale prospectus.

6. Any documents relating to any form of tender or future proposals for the Castle.

7. The sale price of the Castle.

8. During the sale process, will other organisations such as Kinloch Castle Friends Association and other heritage or similar bodies be consulted in addition to the island community?

Response

I have included copies of the information you have requested below in Annex B.

On reviewing materials within scope of your request an exemption has been applied in line with the FOISA.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not hold any material or data in relation these parts of your request.

In addition, as provided in Annex A below, the Scottish Government has published the Kinloch Castle Study: Final report, which summarises the findings of a study into the views of Rum residents on the sale of Kinloch Castle on the Isle of Rum. The report presents an agreed list of suitable conditions of sale for Kinloch Castle and advice on how a future sale of the castle should be conducted.
