Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
Information requested
How many a) gamebirds (by species) b) Mallards in total have been registered on the Scottish Kept Bird Register in each county in Scotland since it launched on September 1st 2024.
Response
I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested as an attachment.
In terms of ‘Game Birds’, the Scottish Kept Bird Register (SKBR) only records Partridges and Pheasants as discrete categories due to alignment with wider UK systems, and so we can only provide information relating to these two species.
The SKBR also only allows for registrations of ‘Ducks’; it does not go into further specificity for this category of bird. As such, we cannot provide the quantity of mallards registered specifically, but we have included the required information relating to the ‘duck category’ as a whole.
