Breakdown of the teams in the Equality, Inclusion and Human Rights Directorate: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

A breakdown of the teams in the Equality, Inclusion and Human Rights Directorate and for each year from 2020/21 to 2025/26 or to the latest year that data is available:

  • the funding allocated to each team
  • the number of staff members in each team
  • the salary range of each team
  • the median average salary of each team.

Response

Some of the information you have requested in relation to further breakdown of the Equality, Inclusion and Human Rights budget is available from the level 4 budget information published on the Scottish Government website. This is the lowest level to which budget is formally disaggregated, and includes all costs not just staff costs. Level 4 budget information for 25-26 can be found on the website at Supporting documents - Scottish Budget: 2024 to 2025 - gov.scot and for previous years on the relevant budget pages for those years. Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. Staffing information broken down by team is not available earlier than 22-23, and for 25-26 has not yet been collated. As such, I hereby provide you with formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

The composition and names of teams change over time based on the work being done at any given time, and people move temporarily between teams without that being recorded, in some cases our records have not noted the specific team that some individuals worked in. Budgets do not get allocated or recorded at the team level so this does not affect financial management of pay within the Directorate. We do have more robust detail on staffing costs at the higher level of “Division” or “Branch” which may meet your requirements, which I have set out in the tables below.

In all cases below, the FTE number is a snapshot as at March, and the salaries listed include all employee costs including employer's NI and superannuation.
