Men in Childcare funding: FOI release

A breakdown of funding provided to the organisation 'Men in Childcare' in 2012 and now, and statistics for the numbers/proportions of men in early years settings.

The answer to your question is:

• In the financial year 2011/2012 the organisation Men in Childcare was provided with grant funding of £45,000.
• Men in Childcare is not currently in receipt of Scottish Government funding.
• The most recently published annual workforce data (Scottish Social Service Sector: Report on 2023 Workforce Data) shows that the percentage of staff by gender in the day care of children workforce in 2023 was 96% female and 4% male.
• The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) Compare Data page shows that there were 1,650 male and 39,550 female workers in the day care of children workforce in 2023.
