NHS Scotland's workforce guidance "asymptomatic testing" of staff during COVID-19: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

  1. Guidance on asymptomatic testing of employers and staff during COVID-19. I was able to access this document, which outlines supplementary guidance issued by NHS Chief Executives on the 3rd July 2020, but I am unable to access that 3rd July document itself. Would you be able to provide a copy of this document?
  2. Any other guidance that was given regarding asymptomatic testing of employers and staff. I am particularly interested in asymptomatic testing guidelines relating to ancillary staff such as Domestic Assistants and Porters by NHS Lothian.
  3. Guidance and policy relating specifically to COVID-19 Domestic Assistants in NHS Lothian (those hired through the accelerated recruitment program), and the difference between their onboarding, testing and vaccination compared to permanent Domestic Assistants.

Response

In relation to questions 1 and 2, I enclose PDF copies of the Guidance for NHS Scotland Staff and managers on Coronavirus, versions 1 to 16 which was published and updated between 30 March 2020 to 1 November 2021 on the NHS Scotland Staff Governance website: https://www.staffgovernance.scot.nhs.uk/coronavirus-covid-19/guidance/. The last updated guidance was published on 24th June 2024 and is available on said website. Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.
