Information requested

How much money has been spent on the Japanese trade envoy (including breakdown of costs), and could you supply all meetings he has had so far and minutes/notes from them?

Response

I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested in the format you asked for.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because exemptions under sections s.38(1)(b) (personal information) and s.33(1)(b) (commercial interests of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why these exemptions apply are explained below.

Exemptions under sections s.38(1)(b) (personal information) and s.33(1)(b) (commercial interests) of FOISA apply to some of the information you have requested. S.38(1)(b) relates to personal information such as names or email addresses and s.33(1)(b) relates to commercial information relating to an external body which is not within scope of this request.

This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
