Splitting request cases pilot queries: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

1. Can I see any and all emails, messages, intranet stuff etc about this change, any stuff about what the process will be, who will be doing it and all that.

2. When does the pilot end? What are the criteria for success? When will these be published?

3. How many FOIs have been asked about how many FOIs have been asked?

Response

1. We are interpreting your request to see emails, messages, intranet stuff etc. about this change and what the process will be as relating to the period of discussion and the roll out of the splitting cases pilot on 29 July 2024.

I enclose copies of the information you have requested at Annexes A to G.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption under section(38(1)(b) (personal information), the disclosure of which would contravene data protection principles of FOISA applies to this information. The reason why this exemption applies is explained in the Annex to this letter.

2. When does the pilot end?

June 2025 with a decision made whether to implement the pilot as business as usual or not proceed.

What are the criteria for success?

Decrease in response times
Decrease in percentage terms of reviews
Decrease in the number of late requests
Positive feedback from a survey of colleagues

When will these be published?

The findings of the pilot will be published late June 2025.

3. We are interpreting your question asking how many FOIs have been received asking about the splitting cases pilot.

The answer to this question is two requests [202500455113 and this request].

ANNEX

REASONS FOR NOT PROVIDING INFORMATION

An exemption applies

An exemption under section 38(1) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested because it is personal data and disclosure would contravene data protection principles.

This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
