Court cases involving the Scottish Government in the last 5 years: FOI release

Information requested

'1. list the court cases raised in all jurisdictions by the Scottish government over the last 5 years 2. Highlight which cases were found against the Scottish Government 3. the total cost per case including legal fees and compensations in 2 above 4. the total amount spent on the list of cases highlighted in 2 above 5. the total cost to the Scottish Tax payer of the cases in 2 above.'

Response

We have interpreted your request as the following. All cases raised by the Scottish Government in last 5 years with how many we have lost, how much each case cost and the total spend in all lost cases and total cost to the taxpayer.

I enclose a copy of of the information based on our interpretation of your request. This shows the cases raised by SGLD, Scottish Government Legal Directorate, in last 5 years and how much each case has cost.

We do not record result off the outcome of each case and some of cases are not amenable to that distinction. Furthermore to point 5 in your question, again this is not information that we hold.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
