Monitoring of X accounts by the Scottish Government: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

How many X accounts does the Scottish Government monitor and could you list them?

Response

We have interpreted the request as referring to lists of X accounts (either from a list on X, from an internal document or a list held on a social media management platform like Brandwatch) that are monitored on a regular basis (i.e. daily, weekly, monthly).

Lists are used by some areas of Government to look for useful content from relevant stakeholders to repost onto their channels, to understand wider industry trends or to find updates on responses to legislation. This is a more efficient use of time rather than scrolling through the feed.

Following our search across the Scottish Government, we’ve identified 378 accounts and these are split across multiple lists. I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested as a PDF.
