Information requested

a) All guidance for the treatment/accommodation of transgender civil servants
b) How many complaints have been received from civil servants in Scotland about the use of female changing rooms/loos by transgender civil servants? (Years 2019 to 2025)
c) What were the outcomes of those complaints?

Response

In relation to part a) of your request, the information you have requested is available from Scottish Government's Transgender Policy: FOI release - gov.scot. Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.

In relation to parts b) and c). In your request, you asked for information about internal complaints made by members of staff. In relation to formal action under these policies, in the past 6 years there have been no formal complaints raised about regarding the use of female changing rooms or bathrooms by transgender civil servants by Scottish Government staff. Our response therefore covers Scottish Government staff employed in the core directorates. There is no requirement to report informal complaints and action to HR and therefore this is formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not hold information about informal complaints or actions.
