Response
Further to our previous letter, I have now completed my review of our response to your request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) for more information in relation to SPPA's Remedy response.
Specifically you asked to review 3 points from the original request.
1) SPPA providing an 'approximate' answer to how many Remedy Statements are still to be issued to former police officers.
2) How many Remedy Statements are planned to be issued each week.
3) SPPA's compliance to FOISA legislation in its correspondence about its plans should it not meet the 31st March deadline
I have concluded that our original response was correct and accurate at the time. Since the original FOI review has been received we have passed the 31st of March deadline so more information is available, I have also provided some context for the answers you have received.
1) This is an approximate answer due to the criteria for determining if an individual is in scope not being black and white. We are awaiting clarification and data on complicated cases to enable us to give exact numbers.
2) Due to the high volumes we are developing automated bulk processing of as many cases as possible. This is a new capability and we need to confirm the accuracy of the process, as such we are
unable to specify exact number to be issued week by week.
3) SPPA's plans for the potential of not meeting the deadline were accurately reported to you. Events have progressed and in March SPPA held calls with TPR and the Pension Scheme Boards to inform them that we would not meet the 31st deadline.
